Derek DeGuire founded DeGuire Properties in 1990, combining his education and background in finance and real estate. Derek graduated from Stephen F. Austin State University in Nacogdoches, Texas in 1984 with a Bachelors degree in Finance with a minor in real estate.
The company initially built speculative homes for sale. As its reputation grew custom build-to suit homes became their focus. Today approximately 80% of its homes are pres-sold. Most of the homes are built in the northeast Tarrant County area although they have built as far away as Granbury where a Southern Living home was built on Lake Granbury. DeGuire, a licensed real estate broker, formed the United Group Realtors in 1994 to list the speculative homes the company built as well as market the homes their clients need to sell in the multiples listing service. Woodvale Development (now Madison Real Estate LTD) was formed in 1995 to develop residential subdivisions. Development continues to be a large part of the company's workload as this is an area they want to continue to expand. The company began building professional offices in 2001 and is also expanding the commercial side of the business and has recently formed Pacific Commercial as the entity that will construct and develop professional and medical office projects.
The company utilizes a fully furnished model home to market their build-to-suit product. Clients work with a licensed architect to customize their home. Some clients make minimal changes to existing plans and others begin entirely from scratch. The same concept is used for our commercial clients - professional and medical office plans are taken from pre-selected plans or 100% build-to-suit, whatever the client prefers. Our home office serves as a prototype of the professional office buildings we are constructing.
